VW’s triple triumph in carsales.com.au Car of the Year Awards.
The Polo was named Best City Car, thanks to its great value for money, benchmark fuel economy and enhanced assistance systems in the newly revised model.
Managing editor at carsales.com Ltd, Marton Pettendy highlighted the benefits of the Polo’s recent update: “Volkswagen’s smallest model in Australia was our top city-car pick even before the comprehensively facelifted version brought more big-car safety and connectivity features in August.”
Adding to already impressive lists of accolades, the Golf succeeded in the all-important Best Family Car under $30K category, and the Amarok was named the Best Tradie vehicle.
On the Golf’s win, news editor, Ken Gratton’s summary said: “Golf is consistently holding its value better than its rivals in the small-car segment, and even one of its prime competitors admits the VW’s running costs place it on the podium.”
Volkswagen’s Amarok was according to RV editor, Chris Fincham: “The supremely refined ride is complemented by a quality finish both inside and out, while the total cost of ownership represents real value given the features and function on offer. It’s no wonder Volkswagen’s ‘tradie in a tuxedo’ is finding favour across the nation.”
The awards take into consideration factors including cost to run, retained value, consumer engagement and affordability in determining the winners of the 13 category awards.
