Ferrari LaFerrari in Perth
Here at DVG, we are basically all just car fans at the end of the day, so when the word came through that one of the worlds rarest cars, a Ferrari LaFerrari was being displayed on the Burswood foreshore along with a considerable collection of its Ferrari stablemates, we had to check it out.
The Ferrari LaFerrari is a limited production hybrid sports car built by Ferrari based on findings from testing their ‘track only’ Ferrari FXX. One of only 499 built, and not able to be licensed here in Australia, this example is registered in Switzerland, but normally resides on the east coast of Australia and made the trip to Perth for this weeks Ferrari Club of Australia annual rally. Needless to say, such a car is an unlikely sight on the streets of Perth much of the time.
The ~$4M Hypercar is Ferrari’s first mild hybrid, using a 6.3L V12 petrol engine producing 588kW and 700Nm supplemented by a 120kW KERS unit which provides short bursts of extra power to boost the overall output to 708kW and combined torque of 900Nm.
According to Ferrari, this all adds up to push the LaFerrari from 0-100km/h in less than 3 seconds, 200km/h in under 7 seconds and all the way to a staggering top speed in excess of 350km/h.
