The new season begins for the Perth Glory on Friday the 26th August 2005 at Members Equity Stadium. But not before a preseason Tournament commencing in July!!

McMahon set to woo International Match
March 2005

Steve McMahon has used his network of overseas contacts to set up the prospect of a glamour challenge match between Perth Glory and star-studded English Premier League club Middlesbrough.

"I've been working hard on that and hopefully it will come to fruition," he said. "It's not 100 per cent sure by any means but it's got a decent chance of happening if they qualify for Europe."

Should Middlesbrough fail to finish at least sixth in the Premier League, therefore missing out on a UEFA Cup place, it would spend its pre-season competing in the Intertoto Cup - a European qualifying tournament - instead of taking up the Perth option.

Former Liverpool midfielder McMahon now has his fingers crossed that the Teesside club can hold its place.

"It would be fantastic for Perth," he said. "It would be great for the supporters and everybody at the club to have a Premier League team here."

Liverpool Great is confirmed as New Glory Coach

Perth Glory is delighted to announce that Steve McMahon will be the club's Head Coach for the 2005/06 Hyundai A-League season.

McMahon, 43 years of age, is a highly energetic and ambitious coach with an outstanding playing career. Perth Glory Chairman Nick Tana said that this is a fantastic coup for Perth Glory and Australian football.

"I see a move to Australia as a tremendous challenge for me. Australia is highly regarded around the world in so many different sports, and I have no doubt that this can also be achieved in

football. The potential is limitless and I'm confident I can play a role in this" says McMahon.

He has full English FA badges and a European UEFA 'A' Licence Badge.

McMahon has had an illustrious playing career. He played over 600 games as central midfielder at the highest level and was selected in Liverpool's team of the nineties. During his time at Liverpool (1985 – 91), he played European football, won three League Championships, a League and Cup Double, and two FA Cups. He also played at Everton (1979 - 83), Aston Villa (1983 - 85), and Manchester City (1991- 94).

McMahon also played a total of 17 full England Caps which included the 1988 European Championship and 1990 World Cup.

Local Heroes Continue with Glory & Major signing

Crowd favourites Scott Miller, Bobby Despotovski, Jamie Harnwell and Matt Horsley have all committed to continue playing their illustrious careers with Perth Glory.

In fantastic news, Current Socceroo and arguably the best player in Australia, Simon Colosimo has also signed a 3 year agreement with Perth Glory.

Perth Glory has also announced that the following players are also in the new line up:

David Tarka, Nicky Ward, Ante Kovacevic (Ko-var-ce-vich) international goalkeeper Milan Jovanic and Stuart Young.
